Alan’s Story
Alan was born in Brooklyn NY and grew up in Philadelphia.
Alan began his college studies at Temple University.
While in college he enlisted in the US Naval Reserve. After completing Basic Training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, he returned to his college studies at Temple University and graduated with BA in Sociology.
Alan began active duty in the US Navy and first served aboard the USS Northampton CC1.
He was then transferred to the USS Conyngham DDG17. This was a Guided Missile Destroyer home ported in Norfolk, VA. He sailed with her to the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas (as part of the 6th Fleet). He became the Weapons Department Yeoman with the rank of Third-Class Petty Officer.
After being released from active duty, he returned to Philadelphia and entered the insurance industry as an agent of Phoenix Mutual Life Ins Company where he established his own agency, Kalish Financial Services LLC.
Alan became proficient in the group insurance business and today manages many of his client’s employee benefits plans. One of the areas he has done much work in is Level Funded plans, where the company has the chance of having reduced rates because of favorable claims history.
He works closely with his business owner clients and their attorneys setting properly drafted Buy Sell and Key Person agreements.
Alan is also involved with his clients that have estates subjected to Estate and Inheritance Taxes and has worked with the client’s attorneys who created Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITS).
Alan has a passion for educating his clients on the needs of Long-Term Care insurance and the five areas of how those needs can be covered. In addition, he also specializes in showing his clients the need for adequate income protection with disability income
insurance.
He is working as a broker representing the state exchanges, both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, known as Pennie and Get Covered NJ, for those whose incomes qualify for Federal subsidies for their medical insurance.
He is particularly active in handling his clients Medicare related policies.
Four years ago, Keshia Brandley joined the firm as a Life and Health Insurance broker working as Alan’s assistant and in managing his business.
Alan’s has earned the designations of CLU, Charter Life Underwriter, RHU Registered Health Underwriter and REBC Registered Employee Benefit Consultant from the American College.
He is a member of his industries’ major associations:

NAIFA – National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors
SFSP – Society of Financial Service Professional
